Baptism
What is baptism?
The word "baptism" simply refers to the immersion of a person in water, but it means a lot more than just getting wet.
Sometimes, people think that baptism "saves people," "washes away their sins," or "makes them a member" of a church, but that's not what we see in the Bible. For example, Jesus was baptized, and He didn't need saving or have any sins that needed to be washed away or want to join a church!
Instead, baptism is an act of submission to the Father that publicly identifies a person with Jesus and symbolizes His death, burial, and resurrection. It is an external expression of an internal reality: a heart transformed by the Holy Spirit.
